Weekly Elementary Studio (ES) Update

Week 2, the Eagles were on a roll and enjoyed completing this week’s challenges. For this week, it was all about water.

The Water Cycle

For their first challenge, the Eagles researched and learned about the water cycle. During the launch, they watched a video on the importance of water and how the access/non-access to clean water can have a big impact on a person’s life.

The water cycle … essential to our survival.

Water Filtration

For the second challenge, the Eagles attempted the water filtration experiment. During the launch, the Eagles watched a video – ‘What would happen if you didn’t drink water’

Some Eagles responded to the video by going to get a glass of water and drinking it.

“I’ll go grab a cup of water now.”

“This video is making me wanna go drink some water.”

“Watch the video, drink a cup of water.”

The video covered what happens to your body when it’s dehydrated. This made the Eagles realise how important water is.

For their experiment, the Eagles used coffee filters, sand and gravel to create a simple water filter. Some were amazed at how different the water looked after filtering it.

The water is filthy!

Start the filtration process!

Some Eagles also attempted the optional challenge of harvesting water.

How do I filter water with … leaves?

Drip, drip!
