Weekly Updates

Preschool / Spark Studio (PS) Update

Rooftop Play!

First day back to rooftop outdoor play, and it was pouring cats and dogs! Despite the wet weather and flooding ground, the PS Eagles had a blast!

Actually, the Eagles were just happy to be able to see their friends in person! They all went straight into playing, talking and laughing.

Over the next 4 days there were games, lots of conversation about what happened at home, what Lego they have, etc. … it’s so good to see each other again!

SOPs implemented:

  1. Everyone remains outdoors on the rooftop.
  2. A limited number of Eagles at each station.
  3. Masks on at all times.
  4. Social distancing.
  5. Hand washing before and after each session.

Every morning, the Eagles need to choose an area they wish to clean up at the end of the session. AV is making her decision.

X knows exactly where she wants to play and clean up after. It’s the same area everyday … decision making at the age of 2.5!

This is the boy’s fort. Both AX and YU have their own big screen in front of them in their bedroom. When they want to get out of the fort, they will slide down through the middle where AY is. Four boys, four rooms, one big fort.

Nice clear sky with a light breeze! The boys decide to expand their fort and build a treadmill! Run Jeremy, run!

AYV and AAR decides to doodle on the ground.

The two girls decide to ask when the boys would be done with the block and buildings. AYV and X want to use the steps and planks to build something too! A good discussion and negotiation ensues.

Then the girls decide to play somewhere else. Looks like it’s boys vs girls play group!

X cheering the boys on: Good job, IA! Good job, AY!

Great team work during clean-up time! Awesome energy and high spirits! The PS Eagles still remember their clean-up song, too! Thanks to the quick clean-up, the Eagles get some time to listen to some stories and do some reading too!

Keeping It Together

Everyday at 2pm, the PS Eagles still come together on Google Meet to see each other for updates and to play games. This week’s Art and Craft is Salt Painting! The salt had to be set aside for 24 hours to dry it, so the Eagles had to pre-plan. Then, the water colours did the magic!

Arts and crafts with friends is the best!

The Big Bad Man who captured Mr. Daniel!

What a nice thing to spell with their salt!

Back In School!

The PS Studio will be back in action starting Monday! It’s been a while! We look forward to seeing everyone back in action, bright and early, Monday morning! YAY!

Weekly Elementary Studio (ES) Update

Crunch Time!

The ES Eagles worked hard on their Lip Dub throughout the week, with the extra challenge of coordinating it all online. The Squad Leaders really stepped up their game to gather their Squads together.

This year is extra special as it is the first year ActonKL will be participating in the Acton Academy Film Fest that is held throughout the Acton worldwide network. Go, go, go, ActonKL Eagles!

The Lip Dub will be displayed during the Sprint-end Exhibition, Details coming up soon, so make sure to book the date!

Hero’s Journey

The ES Eagles dived a little deeper into the Hero’s Journey this week by researching into their Heroes and the journeys that they went through to get where they are today.

As a Studio, we looked at the life of Louis Braille and how he invented the Braille system.

Louis Braille made it possible for the blind to read.

Each Eagle also started examining their own personal Heroes:

“I am researching into Ole Kirk Christiansen, the origin of the Lego company, and how his made the first Lego brick.”

Systems and Tools

Systems and Tools are what run the Studio, so the Studio delved deeper into them as the ES Eagles are working on their Contract. This week they made discoveries about setting Smart Goals and learned more about themselves, their learning styles, and love languages.

“My love language is words of affirmation.”

“Mine is quality time.”

“I’m a visual learner.”

We ended our week with Fun Friday! For now, it’s still at home, but soon we will celebrate together! Looking forward to Week 3.
