The team started the day facing a simulated scenario of a school closure.
They all voted that they rather continue run the school, ideally one which is learner-driven. As guides, we ask what sort of standards they want to uphold to as they made such choices.
Last week, the heroes were still in cliques during meal times. But today, the heroes decide to eat together in the same area.
The key highlight today is revealing this week’s Design Thinking Challenge cards. There are four challenges:
- The Gathering (Dining area at the kitchen area)
- Wall Mural
- Inspiration Stairs
- Elementary School Studio upgrade
They practiced the inspiration components of Design Thinking, which is Empathy and Define.
Design Thinking, Step 1 – Empathy. The heroes generated a series of open questions, and interviewed each other to understand user’s needs and problems. Well, they are users themselves, being one week in this space.
Design Thinking, Step 2 – Define. The heroes used Space Saturation method and Point-Of-View Madlib exercise.
For games, it was knee tag and robot pen.
Knee tag was intense!
Robot pen was swift after an initial struggle.
First team to write “team” via suspending it from duct tapes.
The heroes will have to present their design ideas to a professional architect tomorrow. Let’s see what they are capable of.
