Weekly Updates
Preschool / Spark Studio (PS) Update
Happy Deepavali / Diwali
On Friday, the PS Eagles hosted a special cross-Studio Deepavali/Diwali celebration when they invited the ES Studio to join them in their morning exercises. The exercise was a special Diwali Dance, and everyone was encouraged to dress up in colourful colours.
Home Challenge
Only a few (3) PS Eagles attempted the Home Challenge this week. They were praised and encouraged for their efforts, and they helped us brainstorm easy Home Challenges that they would like to attempt next.
Home Challenges provide learners with responsibility over house chores, and a way for Eagles to practise responsibility at home. Once they have achieved their Home Challenge targets, the feeling of accomplishment spurs them on to keep it up and tackle more responsibility. We hope more PS Eagles will take on future Challenges.
Quest: Distant Learning/ Montessori Cultural – Geography
This week saw the PS Eagles open Mystery Bag 3. They were challenged to recreate their own Continent Map based on a Control Card with colours and the names of continents. The PS Eagles completed this Challenge quickly and independently, they are adept at doing things on their own by now.
Fun, Funny Fun
Being together means mucking about, even in a virtual setting, and the PS Eagles love mucking about! Zoom calls means … funny faces! An Afternoon Huddle saw an explosion of silliness and games.
Elementary Studio (ES) Update
Keeping Connected
We are now in our third week of the Sprint, and it’s still virtual. The ES Studio keeps connected via Google Meets and Google Chat; discussions, the exchanging of ideas and play are often done via these platforms.
This week we had a Hero Sharing with Dr. Shien.
Dr. Shien is a Professor of Practice at the Asian School of Business. He co-founded a Computing Society which organizes the annual Malaysian Computing Competition (MCC). His experience and interests include Computer Science, Education and Finance.
During the call, the ES Eagles had the opportunity to share their programming work with him. The Eagles were delighted and encourage to have the opportunity to learn from him.
Learning From Setbacks
Two mid-day launches were led by the MS Eagles. The first one didn’t go as smoothly as it was supposed to; the Eagles struggled with a technical issue. The Eagles reflected that they needed to be better prepared beforehand.
