Weekly Updates

Preschool / Spark Studio (PS) Update

Half and Half

On Wednesday, the PS Studio reopened for ‘physical classes’. Half of the PS Eagles attended the ‘physical’ classes from Wednesday onwards, and the rest continued with ‘virtual’ classes. It was great to see that both versions of the Studio maintained their energy and joy.

The Eagles had great fun playing the ‘Yoga Pose Freeze Game’, even via Zoom.

SO taking the role of the PS Studio Guide during Thursday’s Circle Time. This was the first time she had taken the role, and it was all self-initiated.

Self-Regulation

Some PS Eagles did not follow the Circle Time ROE and persisted in talking over their fellow Eagles. The Eagles who witnessed the behaviour raised their hands, waited their turn and called out, “Please put your hand up when you want to speak.” After several warnings, a PS Eagles was invited to have a 1 minute reset at the reset table, and the Circle Time continued.

Friday Art Pack (Worm)

The PS Eagles were given an artpack filled with cotton / plastic filling, googly eyes, pipe cleaners and rubber bands. All the Eagles had to supply were an old sock from home, and some glue from last week’s pack.

SY made his own worm with the Friday art pack.

Elementary Studio (ES) Update

More Flour! Add More Flour!!

This week the Eagles face a daunting challenge … to bake bread! This time around, they were more prepared and made sure that they had everything that they needed before the day.

At the beginning of the challenge, some Eagles face difficulties locating the challenge which was sent to them via email, but before long they were sharing and guiding each other through the process.

One Eagle experienced some frustration. She felt that no one was listening to her during the process. “It was so noisy and nobody answered me when I asked them.” Later, upon reflection, she came to realize that she needed to learn how to check her email and to also learn to read the recipe thoroughly.

An in-the-know Eagle guided their fellow Eagles through the process, “Let your dough rest for 40 minutes.”

Doing it alone, but together.

TA-DAAAAA!!! Proud Eagles showing off the fruits of their hard work.
