Weekly Updates
Preschool / Spark Studio (PS) Update
Save Mr Daniel!
Mr Daniel has been captured by the Big Bad Man! To save Mr Daniel, the PS Eagles have to work together to solve 5 challenges in exchange for 5 clues to open a treasure chest for the Big Bad Man.
First challenge: Smell them! There are 5 packs of items and the PS Eagles have to collaborate to find out what they are (blindfolded!).
They did it! After a lot of description, guessing, and feeling … they finally figured it out! The hardest one for them was coffee. AYD said it smelled like soil (which is not too far off!)
The 5 items were lemongrass, pandan, coffee, dried rose and lime leaves.
Settling Back Into Flow
Everyone was punctual, if not earlier, to every meeting! Well done to all of them! Every also remembered their ROE during virtual calls and each of them participated very well in our games and discussions.
Physical Exercise
It’s been wonderful to see all the happy, smiley faces again every morning! However, a few of the Eagles struggled a bit with physical exercise in the morning. More energy to you, Eagles!
Character Call-outs
We are introducing Character Call-outs to the PS Eagles this Sprint. Some of them gave this uplifting tool a try:
IA gave a Character Call-out to his mum for being helpful in solving his iPad audio issues.
AAR gave a call out to her mum for making her delicious lunch.
Ms WW saw J participating in the game even though he didn’t like it. We call that sportsmanship!
Hopefully, in the future, the PS Eagles will give Character Call-outs to each other.
Special Celebrations
In conjunction with Malaysia Day, the PS Eagles learned a bit about batik painting and had a go at it themselves at home!
Our beautiful creations!
Weekly Elementary Studio (ES) Update
We’re Back!
Week 1 of our new academic year! The ES Eagles were excited to be back although school is still virtual.
“I am so happy that school has started! I can see my friends again.”
This Sprint is all about Tribe Building – Prediction Tools and … Lip Dub!
Lip Dub Prep
The ES Eagles started the week with the challenge to create a Lip Dub video. They started by picking a song, memorizing the lyrics, creating a rubric, working out the different parts of the song. Then they assigned each part to the Squads.
Looking forward to next week’s choreography and filming!
Prediction Tools
On the discovery of Prediction Tools, the Eagles worked on two challenges this week, learning about the Accountability Systems and the Technology Tools that are used within the Studio.
Provisional Studio Contract
The Studio also created a simple provisional Studio Contract, which they will finalize in the coming weeks.
The Provisional Contract consists of the top 3 promises voted in by the Studio.
- I promise to follow the Studio schedule.
- I promise to use my inside voice during Core Skills, Circle Time, and DEAR.
- I promise to treat everything and everyone in the Studio with care.
The Studio ended the week by sharing how their first week back was like:
“It has been a hectic week for me. It’s my first time being Squad Leader, and I am learning how to lead my team and help them in any way I can. Here I am, I made it through the first week.”
“It has been a challenging week for me too. Being Squad Leader. It was really hard.”
Here’s to a great week ahead! All the best, Eagles!
