Build a Tribe/Becoming a Conversationalist/Becoming an Interviewer Exhibition 2021-2022 Sprint 1

ES Build a Tribe Exhibition

The ES Eagles explored the Prediction Tools they have in the Studio to predict success in decision making, problem solving, or drawing conclusions. Every tool is geared towards making goals measurable, keeping accountability, and success.

The Hero’s Journey

AY, IS, AND and AR explained what the Hero’s Journey is, and shared that the Hero’s Journey is used in stories, movies, and life.

SMART Goals

JAR, KAV, JO, and AZ explored SMART Goals. SMART stands for: Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time.

Learning Programs

KAL, SAL, MAG, and SOP talked about the Learning Programs Eagles use in the Studio.
Eagles practise typing using Typing Club … it’s an important skill to have nowadays!
Prodigy is a fun maths program that feels a bit like Roblox!

KHAN Academy is a renown maths program that challenges the Eagles.
Lexia is used for reading and English concepts.

Accountability

XAN, ALO, ADL, and ZU spoke about accountability in the Studio.
Studio Guardrails and the Studio Contract – what’s the difference? Studio guardrails are a bunch of rules and promises that keep you accountable in the Studio. The Studio Contract is a bunch of promises Eagles make to each other.

Feedback & Reflection

MSLP Becoming a Conversationalist/Becoming an Interviewer Exhibition

Conversations & Interviews

The MSLP Eagles delved into the art of great conversation and insightful interviewing by observing and analyzing renown conversationalists and interviewers, and practicing various techniques that they discovered. Here are their thoughts:

Q: What was your biggest takeaway from all the conversation and interview techniques that you explore?

ARJ: It would be how to analyze my conversations and the conversations of other people.

DHAN: Listening should be with the intent of truly understanding the other person’s point of view, rather than just for us to say something back in response.

KOT: I think it was the part where I learned how to be comfortable while talking, and also the part where I learned how to have a great conversation without having weird pauses.

ZUL: We learned about how to handle many different kinds of conversations, like how to handle small talk as an introvert, how to console someone, having a meaningful conversation, and how to ask a favour from someone properly.

KEA: The most important thing I learnt this Sprint would be that talking to people is very important in life because it helps you build a network.

Q: What did you discover about yourself when it comes to how you approach and conduct conversations and interviews?

ARJ: I found out that I’m apparently very expressive in my interviews and conversations, which I found interesting because I never noticed it since I went my whole life talking like that.

DHAN: I discovered that I work better with preparing a few open-ended question on different areas of a person’s life and framing more detailed questions on the interview. With this technique, I’m more present in the conversation and feel more authentic.

KOT: I discovered that I can have conversations really well if I can be comfortable, and also that I normally enjoy having conversations!

ZUL: I definitely learned more about how I handle different conversations.

KEA: I didn’t really discover anything about myself.

Q: What works for you? What doesn’t?

ARJ: I feel that conversations with eye contact work for me because it makes me feel like you are actually interested in the conversation. I feel that conversations that have controversial topics lead to many arguments.

DHAN:

What works: Doing extensive research on the interviewee prior to meeting them.

What doesn’t: Having questions that aren’t sequenced, because it makes the interview feel scattered.

KOT: I would say that listening skills are really useful for me, because I normally talk so much so I think t his was a really great chance for me to practice my listening skills.

ZUL: I think these techniques we learnt really allowed me to get out of my comfort zone more since we had to converse with different people.

KEA: I think everything works for me except if I have to do team projects, it would be quite hard.

Personality Tests

They also continued to self-analyze using online personality analysis programs.

Q: What test did you do?

ARJ: We did the 16 Personalities Test.

DHAN: Myers-Briggs Personality Test (16 Personalities)

KOT: I used a test called ’16 Personalities’. I had to answer many questions and once I’m done, the result will come out.

ZUL: Another thing we did was taking a personality test which we then discussed about within the Eagles. We used the ’16 Personalities Test’. This helped me learn more about myself and helped me find my calling, which I deeply appreciate.

KEA: Personality Test

Q: What results did you get? Did you find them accurate?

A: I got the Campaigner. I feel that it’s very accurate since it says that Campaigners are people pleasers and are creative, which is 100% me.

D: I got an INFP-T (Mediator). I try not to look too deeply into these tests, but yes, they were fairly accurate.

KOT: I was an Assertive Entertainer, and my code was ESFP-A. I think yes, some parts were quite accurate but some weren’t. I still think this was quite great.

Z: I learned that I’m Logician and that I have the same personality type as Isaac newton and Albert Einstein.

KEA: ENFJ/ENFJ – T. Yes, I do find them accurate.

Q: What positive traits did you discover about yourself?

A: I discovered that I am slowly turning to an extrovert since the beginning of MCO in January of last year!

D: My personality type is generous, which is something I’ve been trying to improve on within myself. 🙂

KOT: I discovered that if I have confidence, I can enjoy and have an awesome conversation with anyone.

Z: I learned that I can do anything I put my mind to.

KEA: I discovered that I am passionate and reliable.
